[angielskie phrasale (phrasal verbs) - zatrudnienie}
In the context of employment, two English phrasal verbs are very important - and very often used!
If you hire someone, you TAKE them ON.
She was taken on as a laboratory assistant.
And the opposite:
If you LAY somebody OFF, you stop employing them, usually because there is no work for them to do.
Because of falling orders, the company has been forced to lay off several hundred workers.
Be careful, LAY is an irregular verb: lay laid laid.
